FIF will host annual summit, AppLE Awards in Spring 2017

Due to multiple unforeseen scheduling conflicts, Forward in the Fifth will postpone its annual Summit, 30th Anniversary and Appalachian Leaders in Education (AppLE ) Awards presentation which was scheduled for Wednesday, November 9.

Forward in the Fifth will recognize the 2016 Appalachian Leaders in Education (AppLE) Awards during the annual summit in Spring 2017.

Imagination Library brings books and excitement to Eastern Kentucky counties

Fourteen Eastern Kentucky counties will now be able to take advantage of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program, which encourages early literacy while assisting children with the creation of their own personal library.

Kentucky First Lady Jane Beshear and Dr. Mary Lynne Capilouto joined more than 900 third-grade students in Pulaski County on Wednesday for the third annual “Feed the Mind” event to celebrate reading and promote literacy throughout the region.

Students share successes in new video competition

Middle and high school students are telling success stories about what makes them proud of their education. Students may submit videos on until Feb. 28.
